Connecting with Parents

Look for Ofsted ratings, qualified staff, good staff-to-child ratios, clean facilities, outdoor space, flexible hours, positive parent reviews, and most importantly, visit to see if it feels right for your family.

Start with short separations, practice independence skills like using a cup and spoon, establish routines, read books about nursery, visit playgroups, and arrange a settling-in session with us to make the transition smooth.

Bring a comfort item, spare clothes, any medications, completed forms, a family photo for their key person, and information about routines. We provide meals, nappies, and all learning materials.

We follow government requirements with ratios of 1:3 for under 2s, 1:5 for 2-year-olds, and 1:8 for children aged three and over. All our staff are qualified early years practitioners with DBS checks and receive regular training.

At Little Curiosities, every new child is warmly welcomed with a personalised settling-in process. This includes a dedicated settling-in day and flexible arrangements to help your child feel comfortable and at home. We truly understand that each child is special, and we love working closely with parents to make sure their transition is as smooth and joyful as possible.

Our experienced team understands that separation can be difficult. We provide comfort and distraction through engaging activities, regular updates to parents and work with you to develop strategies that help your child feel secure and happy.

We use our parent app for daily updates, photos and learning observations. We also provide verbal feedback at pickup, send monthly newsletters, hold regular parent meetings, and are always available for calls or emails when you need to discuss your child’s progress.

We follow strict illness policies. If your child develops symptoms, we’ll call you immediately for collection. We have qualified first aiders on site and maintain detailed records. Your child can return when symptom-free for 48 hours.

We’d love for your child to attend, but understand that they may sometimes feel unwell. Please let us know if they’re unable to join and if there’s anything we can do to support you. Unfortunately, we don’t provide refunds.

Yes! We believe in outdoor play all year-round. Children should have appropriate outdoor clothing and we have covered areas. Fresh air and outdoor exploration continue daily – we just adapt activities for winter weather.

Yes! We love celebrating birthdays with special birthday crowns, songs and age-appropriate activities. You can bring treats to share, or we can arrange a special birthday snack with our chef, Viv.

Absolutely! We welcome birthday treats, but please check with us about allegies first. Our chef Viv can also prepare special birthday treats if you prefer, ensuring all children can safely take part.
