Our Day for Preschoolers
At Little Curiosities Nursery & Preschool, we carefully craft each day to provide preschoolers with a delightful mix of independence, creativity, connection, and joyful learning through play. Our inviting routine offers children a cosy feeling of security while providing plenty of opportunities for choice, discovery, and wonder to thrive.
Welcome & Free play
The day begins with a warm greeting from our team as preschoolers arrive and settle into carefully prepared play spaces. They choose from a range of open-ended activities, including construction, imaginative play, art, sensory exploration and role-playing. This encourages their independence and sparks their creativity.
Circle time
We come together to share stories, sing songs and enjoy conversations. It’s a wonderful time to build our community, explore new ideas, and get excited about the day’s learning themes, all inspired by the children’s interests.
Outdoor exploration
Preschoolers enjoy exploring our beautiful natural garden space. They climb, run, dig, build and discover new things. We help children develop their motor skills, boost their social confidence, and encourage a genuine love for nature.
Focused activities & Child-led learning
Throughout the morning, preschoolers enjoy a mix of activities, including making marks, playing early math games, conducting science experiments, engaging in loose parts play, and working on construction and group projects. We thoughtfully plan to nurture and support each child’s unique growth and development.
Healthy snack & Social time
Mid-morning, we offer a healthy snack, such as fruit, cheese and crackers, veggie sticks, and hummus, accompanied by water or milk. Children enjoy their food in a relaxed social setting, practising independence and developing good habits.
Enrichment experiences
Preschoolers take part in a variety of enjoyable enrichment activities, including:

Yoga with Ella – Promoting mindfulness, balance and body awareness

Allotment gardening – A hands-on approach to planting, growing, and understanding where our food comes from
Lunchtime
Preschoolers enjoy a freshly prepared, nutritious meal carefully made by our qualified chef, Viv. Mealtimes are a warm and joyful opportunity for children to practise table manners, explore new flavours, and share delightful moments with friends.
Afternoon play & Project work
The afternoon is filled with more fun play, creative exploration and group projects that encourage children to develop their ideas and interests. We happily support early literacy, numeracy and problem-solving through playful and meaningful activities that make learning enjoyable.
Snack & Reflective time
Preschoolers enjoy a light snack together before gathering to reflect on the day, share highlights, show and tell, and get ready to head home.
Hometime
At pick-up, we share special moments and milestones with parents, fostering open and warm communication. Every day concludes with a sense of achievement, connection and genuine care.
